Transform Your Confusion Into Lightbulb Moments With Private Zoom Lessons From Robert Conti

Instruction Designed to spark progress, clarity, and excitement — so powerful, you'll rush to your guitar after every Session. momentum builds fast, turning small wins into real breakthroughs in your playing.

"Conti is exceeding my expectations. He is an outstanding musician and educator."
-Matthew Leos

Tired of leaving Your lesson Sessions unmotivated, with no desire to practice?

You’re dedicated. You’ve put in the hours. You’ve likely even invested in private lessons, trusting a “teacher” to guide you to your goal of fluent, authentic jazz playing.

But what if that guidance has been leading you in circles?

The unfortunate truth is that the internet is packed with players who simply cannot teach. They’ll hand you a scale book, assign arpeggios, and tell you to “just transcribe,” leaving you to connect the dots they themselves never did.

That isn’t teaching. It’s intellectual abandonment. And the cost to you is immense:

  • Wasted Years:
You spend months, even years, wading through unstructured lessons that don’t build on each other, leaving you no closer to actually playing music than when you started.
  • Theory Overload:
You’re buried under a mountain of scales, modes, and theory—paralyzed by overthinking instead of being freed by knowledge. You understand the math of jazz, but not the music.
  • Bandstand Anxiety:
That sinking feeling when you’re suddenly called upon to solo and your mind goes blank. All that “knowledge” locks up, creating anxiety and lag because you were never taught how to *apply* it in real time.
  • The “Play It Again” Trap:
You waste precious, expensive lesson time just playing scales up and down while the teacher nods—a clever ruse to bill more hours without imparting any real, valuable information.

You’re left frustrated, disheartened, and starting to believe that maybe you just don’t have “it.” You blame yourself, when the real failure lies with a teaching model that is fundamentally broken.

This isn’t a reflection of your potential. It’s a reflection of their inadequacy as educators.

From Rhythm Player To Headliner

When Tony Pereira came to Robert Conti, he was drowning in scales and modes with no real ability to improvise. He made a commitment that changed everything: 18 months of weekly two-hour Zoom lessons, leaving his ego at the door and letting Robert strip away the clutter. Robert’s decades of experience finally made it all click—teaching Tony to think like a real jazz player instead of getting lost in theory.

The results speak for themselves. Today, Tony hosts his own monthly guitar night at Maxan’s Jazz Club in Las Vegas (he jokes he should hang a sign reading “Chops By Conti”), his gig schedule has exploded, and he’s getting calls to sub for other players. Most importantly, he no longer worries when it’s his turn to solo. As Tony puts it, working with Robert was simply the best musical investment” he’s ever made.

The Virtuosity Behind The Method

Before you can trust any teacher, you must witness their capabilities.

Robert’s attained level of skill is the ultimate validation of his methods. The fluidity, taste, and sheer command you hear are exactly what his teaching platform is designed to unlock in you.

He doesn’t just teach jazz; he embodies it. This video (among numerous others) is your guarantee that you are learning from a true master of the craft, ensuring your time and investment are spent on a proven path to playing.

In today’s world of internet marketers, always remember:

They can’t teach what they can’t play.

“Been playing guitar for over 20 years, mostly rock, blues, and folk, but jazz never ‘clicked’ for me. Like many others, I spent years running scales, arpeggios, and chord exercises but could never merge the knowledge into actually playing jazz.

After starting 1-on-1 lessons with Robert, everything changed. In the very first lesson he threw some lines and high-impact concepts at me that opened completely new doors—I was improvising over On Green Dolphin Street right away.

In just 3 months, I’ve learned to truly practice improvisation by playing it. Each week I learn a new standard, Robert teaches me lines and shows me how to apply them, and I get honest feedback. It’s an organic process that finally gave me the jazz language I was searching for. Robert Conti is a monster player and educator—I highly recommend his lessons!”

Claus Displays His Short Term Improvement!

Stop Accumulating Knowledge You Can't Use—Finally Bridge the Gap Between Theory and Playing Real, Authentic Jazz.

Conti gets you improvising over standards from your very first lesson. Unlike traditional methods that force you to first memorize endless scales, arpeggios, and theory in a vacuum, Robert’s proprietary approach gives you complete, melodic lines that work.

He provides you with master-crafted “devices,” then immediately shows you how to apply them over common chord progressions in real jazz standards. This process—Learn, Apply, Vary, Own—bypasses years of theoretical overload and directly connects your brain to your fingers, transforming your technical knowledge into musical language.

This is the critical step traditional lessons skip: the application.

Conti focuses on getting your “brain up to speed with your fingers,” so you can stop thinking about scales and start speaking the language of jazz.

Every Minute of Your Lesson is Packed with Actionable, Playable Content.

We respect that your time is valuable. Unlike teachers who fill hours with repetitive exercises or theoretical lectures, Conti’s sessions are engineered for maximum density of high-impact learning from the first minute to the last.

Pre-Lesson Preparation: Before you even log on, you receive clear setup instructions from our tech support to avoid wasting time on audio-video snags. Robert reviews your background to pre-plan the session.

The “No-Bullshit” Opening: Robert cuts right to the chase. After a quick skill assessment, he immediately emails handouts and charts, and you start playing real jazz—often within the first 15 minutes.

Two-on-One Attention: Robert teaches in a studio with an assistant who handles backing tracks and chords on-demand. This seamless workflow means his time is spent on you, not fumbling with software and fighting technical problems.

Post-Lesson Lifetime Access: An hour after your lesson ends, you receive a full video recording. This eliminates the “I can’t remember what he said” problem, turning a session into a permanent reference library you can revisit for years.

The result? You walk away from every session exhausted and energized, armed with new lines, clear concepts, and a video archive of exactly how to practice—ensuring your time and financial investment yields tangible, immediate returns.

Lesson #4 was the best so far. The work assigned in the first two lessons is paying dividends. I'm getting better and am inspired to get better still. When I get really good, I'll buy a Conti guitar to celebrate my arrival at "Good." (Not great but good.)

It's great to get feedback (-even if it's that I gaffed something up) and a pro's assessment of where I am and what I need to work on. Frequently Asked Questions

If you’ve been frustrated by slow progress, theory overload, or not knowing how to turn what you already know into real music, private lessons are for you. Robert tailors each session to your playing level and goals, showing you how to apply your skills directly to jazz standards. Whether you’re a seasoned player looking to finally ‘get’ improvisation or someone just stepping into jazz, private lessons give you the personal guidance, accountability, and inspiration to move forward with confidence.

Robert cuts right to the chase with a “no bullshit” approach focused on application, not just theory. While he has a Ph.D. level understanding of music theory, he doesn’t believe in overloading you with scales and modes isolated from music. Instead, he gives you master-crafted lines and “devices” and immediately shows you how to apply them over standard tunes. His goal is to get you playing jazz immediately by connecting your brain to your fingers, bypassing years of theoretical overload and frustration.

To ensure every student has a breakthrough experience, we recommend that you possess an intermediate level of technique before booking. A good benchmark is the ability to play simple 8th notes with a metronome at 110bpm.

If you’re brand new to guitar, we advise you to first develop your core technique skills with Robert’s self-study resources. These materials provide the essential building blocks that will allow you to thrive in a one-on-one session later on.

That’s completely normal—many students feel a little nervous at first. But within minutes, Robert’s easygoing style puts you at ease. He’s not there to judge you; he’s there to help you make music. Most students are surprised at how quickly the nerves disappear once they realize how supportive, encouraging, and fun the lessons are.

“I was very nervous about playing in front of Robert but he put me at my ease very quickly.” –Eddie Graham

We use the well known Zoom software for live lessons. You do not need a Pro subscription. The free application is all that is required.

You’ll need a webcam and microphone, along with a high speed internet connection (wired is better than Wi-Fi if possible). After scheduling your lesson, you will receive an email with additional helpful information.

Yes, there are apps available for Android and Apple devices, however, we strongly suggest using a desktop or laptop computer for the best lesson experience.

Expect to be playing quickly. Robert will spend a few minutes assessing your current level and goals. He will then likely email you handouts (PDFs) and within the first 15-20 minutes, you’ll be applying new concepts directly to a jazz standard, with live backing tracks provided by his assistant. You won’t spend the lesson just playing scales up and down; you’ll be making music from the very start.

Every lesson is recorded in HD video and audio, and you’ll receive the MP4 file afterward. That means you can revisit every detail, every line, and every explanation—anytime you want. It’s like having a personal masterclass on demand, an invaluable resource for lasting progress.

When done correctly. Zoom makes world-class instruction accessible no matter where you live. Instead of dealing with travel time, hotel expense, and scheduling headaches, you connect with Robert Conti directly from the comfort of your home. With close-up camera, and session recordings for review, Zoom provides benefits you wouldn’t get in a traditional lesson. Add in the support of an assistant to handle any technical details, and the experience is every bit as personal and effective as being in the same room.

Immediately after placing your order on our secure site, you will be automatically directed to a calendar where you’ll choose a date and time for your lesson. Additionally, you can specify what you would like to focus on during your lesson.

Your Jazz Journey Doesn't Have to Be a Long, Frustrating Detour. It Can Start Today.

"Conti gave me my first insights into making a living as a musician. I played music full time from 1980-1998 and my various music groups grossed well over $1,000,000 for that time period. He had a way of inspiring me by presenting his music and business concepts so clearly and simply."
